Originally from the North West of England, Laura graduated in Fine Art from Liverpool John Moores University in 1997. As an art student her attention was drawn to exploring techniques with painting and printmaking. Having only come back to painting in recent years, it seems that time has enabled Laura to know clearly what she is hoping to communicate through her work.
Trained as a Fine Artist and Printmaker, Laura's paintings and prints are a culmination of both process and imagination. Her clever, vibrant compositions take shape through a multitude of careful layering techniques and intuitive mark making with a variety of mediums. A gestural artist, there's a rhythm to be seen, in the energy of each movement across the paper or canvas. Working with many different media types Laura takes inspiration from sunsets, vistas and horizons. Whilst much of her work is easily perceived as skyscapes and landscapes, there is a reduction of references to reality in the hope that the viewer can also appreciate the paintings as unique abstraction.
